Came across this article while looking for inspiration on how best to link together my Posterous, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and Wordpress Blog. Since recreating my Wordpress blog this last week, I now have the need to focus readers to my http://cjsparno.com/ blog domain. I don't want to lose the flexibility and power of the Posterous bookmarklet, which beats Press This by a mile or two. And I love the cross post capability that Posterous offers my publishing workflow.
Earlier, I did some testing of Twitter integration with my blog. Actually spent a lot of time getting posts to tweet without repeating. But after rethinking the original stategy of having Posterous cross-post to Twitter for me, I have decided to rely on the Wordpress plug-in WordTwit to post whatever goes to the blog, whether its from Posterous or manually posted. Why did I decide to do this and potentially lose Tweets from Posterous? The URL of course. In viewing my Google Analytics activity for my Posterous domain (christophersparno.com) it is very clear that all or most of my Posterous subscribers don't access my Posterous from direct URL or websearch, but instead use "My Subscriptions" within the Posterous site. So by only tweeting from cjsparno.com (my new blog's domain), I can build real external web traffic while still engaging and participating with my Posterous subscribers. Also, my new blog has a cool new interface with lots more capability including iPhone formatted viewing.
Seems like a win-win, but as with most things web related, only time will tell. For now, I will post to Posterous and the workflow will go on being tested.
